In August 1991, Iraqi military forces attacked the small oil-rich nation of Kuwait. Triumph in the Desert is an ABC News production detailing three aspects of this Middle Eastern conflict. Segments focus on "the Challenge," "the Fighting," and "the Legacy." It offers a look at United States involvement, and the formidable force America and allied countries created against Iraq's Saddam Hussein. Highlights depict visuals from ABC News archives and its report of the Persian Gulf War. The film is based on the book Triumph in the Desert, by Peter David.
