Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This time around, Rick Steves ushers the tour through the vineyards and villages of Alsace on the Rhine River, right next door to Germany. Describing the region as "France with a German accent," Rick offers fascinating glimpses of the Colmar, "The Little Venice," one of the few Alsatian villages which survived WWII unscathed. A walking tour of the WWI battlefields of Verdun segues into a stopover at the cathedral in Reims. This 48th episode of Travels in Europe With Rick Steves concludes with a few effervescent moments in Epernay, the traditional "birthplace of champagne."
