Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Having already taken in the sights and sound of Western Turkey, Rick Steves ventures into the country's fabulous interior. Highlights of this 38th episode of Rick's popular PBS travel series include find the ancient Christian "hideout" of Cappadocia and remnants of the region's steep cave villages. Also, Rick discusses the underground cities of Turkey, provides an "interpretation" of some gorgeous Byzantine frescoes, and takes a good long look at a genuine Maltese Cross. Then he heads to the modern Turkish capitol of Ankara, where the Old rubs shoulders with the New. And everywhere he is greeted with traditional Turkish hospitality, which dictates that no one -- not even a stranger -- is ever turned away from a family's home.
