Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Upon his arrival at Ellis Island, Italian immigrant Tony (Francis McDonald) assumes the name of his adopted country as his surname, and thus "Tony America" is born. His first few months in the USA are miserable, thanks to the machinations of a greedy Italian-American ward heeler. A brief tenure of happiness with his new sweetheart Rosa (Yvonne Pavis) comes to a sad end when it turns out that she has a jealous husband. Eventually, Tony America finds a new lease on life as the adoptive father of an orphaned child. Given the nature of the material, it is surprising that Tony America did not star George Beban, who in 1918 was the foremost purveyor of "Mediterranean" roles.
