Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

Adultery is the theme of this innovative Iranian romantic trilogy (the first film to cover such a racy subject in post-revolutionary Iran). It is a story of a philandering woman and features three different endings. All of the love scenes are set in a cemetery where the woman meets her lover. In the first version, the woman and her lover are caught by her jealous husband who immediately kills her lover. Later the husband willingly admits his act to the judge and for punishment must choose his own form of execution. In the second version, the woman's lover is now her husband. He finds her in the cemetery with another; a fight ensues, but this time, the husband is killed resulting in the lover being hanged. In the final version, a vindictive old man clandestinely observes the illicit tryst and then tries to convince the husband to get revenge.
