Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Czech Tichy Spolecnik top-bills Jiri Schmitzer as Frantisek Stanek, an ambitious newspaper editor. Stanek's dreams of becoming editor-in-chief are threatened by the behavior of his teenaged son Filip (Thomas Jansky). The boy's involvement with a tough street gang may very well lead to headlines, though not the kind that Stanek would be inclined to print. Tichy Spolecnik was given brief American film-festival play in 1990. Its title, by the way, translates to The Silent Partner.
