Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
Forgotten silent screen cowboy Buffalo Bill, Jr. (aka Jay Wilsey) and a very young, still unknown Jean Arthur starred in this low-budget Western as a fugitive from justice and a girl rancher whose mortgaged land is threatened by a powerful oil company. "Lightning" Bill is falsely accused of a crime and on the run when he encounters Mary Watkins (Arthur), who mistakenly believes him to be her long-lost brother. Keeping his identity a secret, the refugee helps the girl in her fight against an unscrupulous attorney (Irene Picot). Beating the villainous attorney at his own game, Bill pays off the mortgage, reveals his true identity and asks Mary for her hand in marriage. Thundering Romance was produced, assembly-line style, by Poverty Row company Action Pictures.
