Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Two Kentucky families, the Pomeroys and the Corbins, have been feuding for decades. Ruth Pomeroy (Katherine MacDonald, touted as "the American Beauty") is the last of her family, and banker Bruce Corbin (Thomas Meighan) marries her then vengefully refuses to let her have children so that her bloodline may die out. Ruth has married Corbin only to save her family's honor (her father, played by Spottiswood Aitken, has become financially liable to the banker). When she finds out the real reason for the marriage, she is determined to get pregnant. Ever since birth, thunderstorms have temporarily rendered Corbin insane, and Ruth uses this to her advantage. Eventually a child (played by Breezy Reeves, Jr.) is born and finally Corbin softens up and becomes a real husband and father.
