Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Wellson Chin Sing-wai of Inspector Wears a Skirt fame spins this horror thriller about July 14th, which, according to the Chinese calendar, is when the gates of hell open up, allowing ghosts to roam the realm of the living for the day. The film opens with a young attractive couple in the throes of sweaty passion when they are hacked to bits by an errant ceiling fan. Two bickering veteran cops (Michael Chow Man-kin and Lau Ching-wan) are assigned to the case and immediately start to question Chia-yi (Chen Ming-chen), the wife of the dead guy. Though she admits to walking into the adulterous liaison, and her alibis don't quite check out, the cops are inclined to believe her. Soon, it becomes apparent to one and all that the murder was not of worldly origins.
