Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
Seven episodes from the Emmy award-winning series This Old House are presented in two parts to show the renovation of a Key West classic home. A Conch captain's house built by a shipwright in 1866, the place belongs to Helen and Michael Miller. Michael is also the project's architect. The crew visits one of Michael's other projects, and then takes a tour of Harry Truman's "Little White House." The projects include a porch renovation in the quintessential Key West tongue-and-groove style, and a pool excavation. There are plumbing considerations, and choice of materials which will stand up to the extreme semi-tropical and hurricane-prone climate. A new library is planned. And there is still time to catch sunset at famous Mallory Square.
