Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This British variety series afforded "ordinary" people the opportunity to sing on national television. Each episode featured five performers, chosen from thousands of call-in candidates. The singers were in full view of the audience at all times, with no opportunity to "prep" backstage, and they never knew ahead of time in which order they would appear. After the show, the viewers at home were invited to call in votes for the best performer, with each participant earning one pound for every four votes. Hosted by former British football player Ian Wright, This Is My Moment debuted over ITV's Granada Television on July 25, 2001.
