Synopsis by Hal Erickson
With This is Korea!, filmmaker John Ford returned to the wartime-documentary genre he'd deployed so well in the 1940s. Produced through the auspices of the U.S. Navy, this 50-minute film offers a clear-eyed history of the Korean War. Special attention is paid to the Marine advance through Seoul, depicted herein as a cooperative effort involving all branches of military service. In addition, praise is extended to the Medical Corps for its expert ministrations to soldier and civilian alike. Released theatrically by Republic Pictures, This is Korea! was lensed in Republic's patented Trucolor process.
