Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Not to be confused with the American quiz show of the same name, the British Third Degree was designed as "filler," to be shown just before the nightly National Lottery Draw program on BBC2. Each 15-minute episode pitted two contestants against one another in a progression of question-and-answer rounds of increasing difficulty and decreasing length. Although the colorful "timekeeping" devices used on the program were worthy of mention, on the whole the project was unmemorable. Hosted by the ineluctable Eamonn Holmes, Third Degree came and went in 1999.
