Not precisely a sitcom, the British TV series ThingumyBob consisted of eight seriocomic 45-minute episodes in the life of a mischievous old pensioner. The great Stanley Holloway starred as elderly Bob Bridge, who loved to get in and out of trouble just to break up the monotony of his life. Worth noting was the series' theme music, written by an up-and-coming tunesmith named Paul McCartney. The first weekly series to be aired by ITV's London Weekend Television service, ThingumyBob was broadcast from August 2 to September 20, 1968.
