Synopsis by Andrea LeVasseur
Independent Utah-based filmmaker Nathan Smith Jones directs and stars in the self-styled Mormon mockumentary-comedy The Work and the Story. Jones plays egotistical writer/director Peter Beuhmann, who tries to take over Mormon cinema after the mysterious disappearance of pioneering filmmaker Richard Dutcher (as himself). Eric Artell plays Kevin Evans, the kid who just wants to make good, wholesome Mormon films even though his parents are against it. Also starring Jen Hoskins, Dan Merkley, and Richard Moll, The Work and the Story was made possible through a donation of 16 mm film stock given by Dutcher.
