Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This British "reality" show was described by publicists as "Big Brother meets Blind Date." Eight strangers -- four men, four women -- were selected to live together in a huge, lavish villa. As hidden cameras ground away from every imaginable corner, the contestants talked, ate, danced, and partied together, in hopes that something of a romantic nature would develop. Meanwhile, a computer endeavored to predict who would finally be paired off with whom. The Villa was broadcast to British satellite subscribers beginning in 1999.
