Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Similar to the American series of the same name, the British The Verdict Is Yours offered fictionalized courtroom cases with actors appearing as the plaintiffs and defendants and genuine attorneys as the lawyers and judges. A jury comprised of "civilians" was pulled from the studio audience to preside over the televised half-hour trials, which had been hastily scripted a few hours before air time. As indicated by the title, the final verdict was in the hands of the jury, with the writers sitting by the sidelines prepared to provide instant dialogue for the "winners" and "losers" depending on the outcome. The British version of The Verdict Is Yours aired over Granada Television from 1958 to 1963.
