Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The contestants for this British game show (based on an Israeli TV original) were selected by telephone some three to four days before the weekly Saturday-night telecast. Arriving at the studio, these contestants were then chosen at random to play a Q&A game, wherein they were divided into "players" and "brokers." Those in the latter category were given the opportunity to guess the four-figure combination to a vault containing 100,000 pounds. The amount increased by another 100,000 pounds for every week that the vault remained unopened, while viewers were invited to call in to participate -- thus beginning the cycle all over again. Emceed by Davina McCall, The Vault debuted on May 11, 2002.
