Synopsis by Olivia Cantor
Written and directed by Joel Coen, this Shakespearean tragedy adaptation features Denzel Washington as Lord Macbeth, the Scottish lord who believed in the prophecy of the three witches that he would soon become the king of Scotland. This prophecy leads him to murder the current king, Duncan (Brendan Gleeson), to take over the throne. With his wife, Lady Macbeth (Frances McDormand), by his side, he pursues his ambitions while being wracked by guilt, though he still becomes a tyrannical and bloodthirsty king.
