The King Bee company had just recently arrived in Hollywood from the East Coast when they made this Western spoof. Charles Chaplin imitator Billy West plays an unsuccessful prospector who comes to the town of Red Dog Gulch. Because he is completely broke, he has to pawn his burro to buy himself food, but then he feels guilty about leaving the beast alone and breaks into the pawn shop to bring him some table scraps. As a result, Billy is arrested for burglary, but Susie, a girl who has befriended him (Leatrice Joy), helps in getting him released. The town's saloonkeeper (Oliver Hardy) runs the town with his henchmen, and Billy, who has not exactly won their favor, decides it would be a good idea to leave. He steals his burro and takes off, but in the meantime, Oliver's men have abducted Susie. Billy accidentally discovers the hideout and saves Susie. Oliver is revealed to be an evil character, and Billy is hailed as a hero.
