Told in flashback, this crime serial produced in Chicago by the pioneering Essanay company depicted the murder of a theatrical entrepreneur (Sydney Ainsworth). Edna Mayo starred as Mary Page, a show business hopeful accused of the murder, and Henry B. Walthall (Griffith's "Little Colonel" in the previous year's The Birth of a Nation), as her boyfriend who happens to also be a noted defence attorney. Future B-Western star Edmund Cobb appeared in the large supporting cast which also included Harry Dunkinson as a stage manager and John Cossar as the prosecutor.
