With his work on such Cold War-era Soviet sci-fi films as Planeta Bur and Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women, Pavel Klushantsev left an indelible mark on the art of visual effects. This Danish documentary from the filmmaking team of Sonja Vesterholt and Mads Baastrup explores the life, career, and enduring impact of Klushantsev, who died in poverty in 1999. Along with archival footage of Klushantsev, The Star Dreamer features interviews with Academy Award-winning special effects artist Robert Skotak (Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgment Day), who credits Klushantsev with inspiring much of his critically-acclaimed work. Released under the title Stjernedrommeren in Denmark, The Star Dreamer received a special mention at the 2003 Odense International Film Festival.
