Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Just because the studio already had an in-house "vamp" in the form of Theda Bara didn't prevent Fox Films from developing a stable of vampish leading ladies. One of the best of these Bara wannabes was Valeska Surratt, the star of Fox's The Soul of Broadway. The mistress of an elderly millionaire, Surratt nonetheless plays the field whenever possible. Her current amour is an impressionable young man who offers to marry her. She refuses, whereupon he grabs a gun and accidentally shoots her. The boy is shipped off to prison, whereupon the unflappable Surratt inaugurates an affair with the imprisoned youth's father-in-law. The temptress' misdeeds finally catch up with her when she goes insane, murders her wealthy protector, and ends her days in the booby hatch.
