Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
The Asian slaves provide the focus of this Korean drama which follows the life of a slave aboard a Korean, motorless shrimp barge in 1987. Cae-Ho is the handsome but simple hero. He works on a boat in Mok-po with two other slaves, a pre-adolescent boy, and a tired man, who has been there 30 years. Their existence is minimal, and any rebellious acts meet with swift and violent punishment. During a brief rest stop on a small he meets and falls in love with a blind prostitute. When Cae-Ho is made captain he becomes as his "owners." But he then reconsiders his actions. His thoughts of escaping are dashed after a violent typhoon.
