Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Also known as SMS, this British anthology series offered 60-minute adaptations of Somerset Maugham's best short stories, many of which had never previously been dramatized. Unlike earlier American TV series and British "omnibus" films devoted to Maugham's works, Somerset Maugham Hour did not feature the titular author as narrator. The casts were comprised of some of Britain's best stage and screen talent, though few star names appeared. Thirty-nine episodes were telecast by Associated Rediffusion from 1960 to 1963.
