Synopsis by Sarah Ing
Getting to sleep can often be harder than it sounds. Humans spend almost a third of their lives sleeping, so it is not surprising that there are a number of disorders that can make snoozing a chore. Dr. Robert Schachter explains many common sleep disorders and suggests ways in which to solve them in his 1987 release The Sleep Tape. From sleep apnea to insomnia, there are many causes for the inability to rest. Whether one has restless legs or jet lag, a fitful night can lead to exhaustion and, over time, even an early death. Dr. Schachter's tips are simple yet effective ways to overcome disorders. Soft snorers can cut back on heavy meals. Insomniacs should stick to a regular schedule and keep stress to a minimum. In some extreme cases, surgery can relieve the symptoms of restless sleep. Dr. Schachter's methods are accepted and effective ways to get some zz's.
