Synopsis by Mark Deming

In this clip show highlighting musical moments from the first eight seasons of The Simpsons, the family settles in for a night of movie watching when Homer (voice of Dan Castellaneta) and Bart (voice of Nancy Cartwright) return from the video store with "a Clint Eastwood/Lee Marvin shoot-'em-up western" -- Paint Your Wagon. Homer and Bart are mortified to discover the film is actually a musical, but Marge (voice of Julie Kavner) and Lisa (voice of Yeardley Smith) take the opportunity to point out that the men in the family have been known to burst into song and dance on occasion. The family is soon visited by habitual criminal Snake (voice of Hank Azaria), just escaped from prison, who is torn about what to do -- should he look for hostages with less eccentric habits, or kill the family before they start singing again? Featuring animated production numbers from nine previous episodes of the series, "All Singing, All Dancing" first aired on January 4, 1998.
