Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This British seriocomic series was derived from the one-off TV drama The Shillingbury Blowers (1980), in which a small town was set on its ear by the arrival of a worldly pop musician. The series version featured Robin Nedwell reprising his role as insouciant singer Peter Higgins, who found himself in charge of Shillingbury's venerable brass band. The six hour-long episodes were broadcast by ATV from May 17 to June 21, 1981. The Shillingbury Tales proved popular enough to warrant a sequel of its own, Cuffy, which focused on the rustic supporting character played by Bernard Cribbins.
