Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The main attraction of this full-color Red Skelton Show episode is the comedy sketch "Appleby Wins a House." Appearing on a TV quiz program, henpecked George Appleby (Red) and his wife Clara (Marie Wilson) win a fully-furnished Dream House-which, predictably, turns out to be a nightmare. Don Wilson, Jack Benny's longtime announcer, appears as the quiz-show emcee. Skelton's enthusiastic peforrmance on this May 13, 1958 telecast was all the more remarkable in that he was masking a profound personal tragedy: His 10-year-old son Richard had died of leukemia three days earlier.
