The Post-Impressionists: Klimt
Share on
Synopsis by Rob Ferrier
Each episode of the Post-Impressionists focuses on the life and work of an artist that not necessarily followed Impressionism, but artists who managed to absorb the lesson taught by the French school and fold it into their own unique style. With that in mind, post-impressionists share little beyond the label itself. This particular episode focuses on the life and work of Gustav Klimt, an artist perhaps best known for his erotic drawings. More than a simple iconographer of human passion, Klimt's facility with color, depth, and form remain an inspiration to the generations of artists who have followed him.
