Synopsis by Brian Whitener

The tape collects a series of interviews with nine women in which they discuss issues surrounding femininity and sexuality. The women were selected to represent a cross-section of economic status, educational background, race, and ethnicity. What the tape captures is a range of emotional responses: hostility towards the interviewer, resentment towards society, disappointment, hope, depression, and joy. In particular the discussions of how women orgasm and the importance of the clitoris, knowledge we take for granted today, demonstrate the work that the women's liberation movement has accomplished in the intervening years. The tape also includes an extended interview with Dr. Sherfy, one of the first female researchers in the field of women's sexuality.
