Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Stereotypes about actors and "artistic" types are reinforced in this unchallenging documentary which purports to chronicle both the "official" and the "unguarded" activities of members of the Stratford National Theater of Canada. They are preparing to tour with a performance of Moliere's The Imaginary Invalid. Scenes of the actors' rehearsing and horsing around with one another, and of homosexual and lesbian encounters, might well have been staged; the actors are at their most natural during the moments when they are performing onstage.
