Synopsis by Mark Deming
Combining spectacular space footage from NASA (including images beamed back by the Mars lander) with state-of-the-art computer graphic images, this documentary offers an up-close look at our neighbors in the solar system, exploring the landscapes of each planet as well as recording their strange but powerful beauty from a distance. The Planets: Epoch 2000 includes an original musical score by Spitz-Tari (based on the classic themes of Gustav Holst) and is narrated by actor Patrick Stewart.
