Synopsis by Hal Erickson
In the future, everyone on earth has instant information access thanks to neural implants called "The Stream" -- everyone, that is, except for Ryan Unger (George Newbern), who, as the result of a childhood brain injury, cannot be implanted. Dismissed as retarded by his peers, Ryan must resort to the ancient, all-but-forgotten process of reading books to gather information. As it turns out, however, it is the backward Ryan who has the fate of mankind in his hands when a deadly virus gets into The Stream. "Stream of Consciousness" first aired on February 7, 1997.
