Synopsis by Janiss Garza
A young man, Clyde Manning (Jack Gardner), escapes from an orphanage and goes to work for a small country paper. Eventually he lands in the big city, where he finds employment as an office boy and, over the course of ten years, works his way up to star reporter. He also acquires an appetite for the hard stuff, which winds up bringing him no amount of grief. Ethel Carver, another reporter (Marguerite Clayton), comes into his life, and she helps him kick the liquor. She inherits a paper back home in the country from her grandfather, and invites him to be its editor. He agrees, and finds out it is the same paper that gave him his start.
