Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Originally produced for CBS, The New Adventures of Superman was a Filmation Associates production that originally debuted in September of 1966. In the first season, the series consisted of two six-minute Superman cartoons sandwiching a Superboy adventure. As the series gets underway, The Man of Steel (voiced by Clayton "Bud" Collyer) is forced to contend with invaders from one of Mars' moons who plan on using a Force Phantom creature to cripple the Earth's defense system. Upon stopping the strange invader, Superman overloads the generator that powers the creature and as a result the creature's spaceship is destroyed as well. Later, during the second season, The New Adventures of Superman was changed to The Superman-Aquaman Hour of Adventure in order to accommodate other D.C. comic do-gooders. The third and final season of the series was titled The Batman-Superman Hour.
