Synopsis by Janiss Garza
When Captain Nathaniel Somers (Norval MacGregor) is killed by his stepbrother, Andreas Mollaire (Noah Beery, Sr.), he leaves his ship, the Elsinore, to his son Dick (Casson Ferguson). He also appoints his loyal first mate, John Pike (Mitchell Lewis), to look after Dick, which is a good thing, since the young man has a fear of the sea. Pike forces Dick to come along anyway, partly to make a man of him and partly so that he will keep his obligations to Margaret West (Helen Ferguson), who both men love. The crew is a rough group of characters, and they mutiny, led by Mollaire, who has broken out of jail and boarded the ship in disguise. Pike dies while saving the ship from the mutineers, leaving Dick and Margaret to be together. This macho tale was based on the novel by Jack London, and was remade as a talkie in 1939.
