Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The legend of the Loch Ness monster was effectively transposed to the British Lakelands in this obscure four-part BBC miniseries. William Greene and Elizabeth Weaver headed the cast as honeymooning couple John and Felicity Brent. The hero (a professor) and heroine were forced to cut their Lake Kinswater vacation short when reports of a monster swimming and roaming about threw the locals into a panic. But was the monster real, or merely an agent of a human villain -- perhaps the mysterious Professor Cato (Robert Harris), who for reasons known to no one owns his own submarine? Future Dr. Who stalwart Mervyn Pinfield handled the directing chores. The first 50-minute episode of The Monsters was seen on November 8, 1962; the last, on November 29.
