Though Million Dollar Robbery was produced under the supervision of pioneering woman director Alice Guy Blache, research has not revealed who actually directed this 4-reel melodrama. Several of Blache's "regulars," including Claire Whitney, Vinnie Burns and Fraunie Fraunholtz, were featured in this convoluted and confusing tale about crime, redemption -- and hypnotism! The titular robbery is pulled off without a hitch, with nary a clue left behind. Operating on a gut instinct, the investigating detective hauls in a likely suspect but does not utilize any third-degree methods. Instead, the suspect confesses everything after being put in a hypnotic trance. This may be one of the few films ever made in which the Butler really did it!
