The Middle of the World is a 1974 romance film directed by Alain Tanner. The film was selected as the Swiss entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 47th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. It was screened at the 2011 International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg.
Olimpia Carlisi was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles at the 31st British Academy Film Awards.
