Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
John Merrow spent over two decades reporting on education and youth-oriented topics for both PBS's McNeil/Lehrer News Hour and National Public Radio, after obtaining his doctorate from Harvard. He also taught students in high school, college, and federal prison. As host of this comprehensive series, Merrow examines some of America's most critical educational issues. This episode features segments on three different programs designed to dramatically decrease the dropout rates in specific Los Angeles, Memphis, and New York City schools.
