Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Suffering from insomnia, Mary (Mary Richards) begins taking sleeping pills. Alas, the heroine soon develops a dependency for barbiturates. Coming to the rescue is a man who is no stranger to substance abuse: Mary's heavily-imbibing boss, Lou Grant (Ed Asner). A typically hilarious and touching treatment of a very serious subject, "Mary's Insomnia" made its initial TV network appearance on December 4, 1976.
