Synopsis by Hal Erickson

As the whole world knows, Mary Richards (Mary Tyler Moore) has never thrown a party at her apartment that hasn't ended up dull, or disastrous, or both. Hoping to break her losing streak, Mary glibly invites congresswoman Geddes (Irene Tedrow) to dinner, certain that this time the occasion will be a smashing success. In fact, Mary is so determined that everything will go off without a hitch that she's liable to have a nervous breakdown before the first guest arrives. Appearing a supporting role is Henry Winkler, only a few months before his ascent to stardom as Fonzie on Happy Days. "The Dinner Party" was originally telecast on November 17, 1973.
