Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Champney Carter (Carlyle Blackwell) is The Man Who Could Not Lose in this breezy 5-reel comedy/adventure. An inveterate horse player, Carter at first belies the film's title by losing everything but the clothes he stands in. While ruminating over his financial woes, he falls asleep, and dreams that an upcoming high-stakes race will be won by a "long shot." Inspired by this vision, he bets his last cent on the nag who appeared in his dream. At the risk of spoiling the ending, it must be noted that this is, after all, the story of the Man Who Could Not Lose. Very typical of the optimistic pre-WWI era, the film was based on a novel by Richard Harding Davis.
