The director who rocketed to fame on the heels of Citizen Kane sits alone in a Brazilian hotel room as he realizes that his dreams or creating a masterpiece are crumbling to the ground in this one-man powerhouse performance starring stage actor Marcus Wolland. The Magnificent Ambersons was supposed to be Welles' masterpiece, but instead of cementing his status as Hollywood royalty, it ruined him. This is a portrait of Welles as few outside of Welles' talented artistic circle ever saw him; confident yet cowering, fearless yet terrified, willing to bare his entire soul for the sake of his art.
