Synopsis by Hal Erickson
There was no "human" host on this British game show: The emcee was the Machine of the title, its voice provided by an uncredited performer. Seven contestants were given two and a half minutes per round to match their intelligence against the Machine in various question-and-answer sessions. Points were awarded to those contestants who answered the quickest (one point for every second under ten seconds). Based on a New Zealand TV series and packaged by Media Marts for the ITV network, The Machine was first telecast in 2002.
