Eric Tsang Chi-wai spins this kung-fu/comedy period flick about a jaded cop named Robert Yang Wei (David Chiang Da-wei) who is hot on the trail of master thief Fang Tsung (Norman Tsui Siu-keung). Meanwhile, a number of wealthy though shady individuals have been getting death threats from a brutal assassin called the Spider. Though Yang gets hired to defend these rich citizens, the bodies start to pile up. As Yang investigates the matter, he realizes that the murders seem to be connected with a two-decade-old botched robbery involving Fang's father. Soon Fang and Yang put their differences aside and set out to get the bad guys and capture a bag of ill-gotten gems before Spider and the gang do.
