Synopsis by Perry Seibert
The Jackie Robinson Story stars the baseball player as himself, and tells his remarkable life story. The film begins with his poverty-ridden childhood, but also touches on his college days, his army career, his time playing in the Negro Leagues, and finally focuses on his difficult but triumphant breaking of the color barrio in major league baseball. The film, lensed just after Robinson had won a championship with the Dodgers, features a supporting turn by Ruby Dee.
