Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
Old German newsreel footage and informative narration help add further understanding to the inner workings of the mind of history's greatest monster. This documentary by British historian Paul Rotha tends to go beyond the standard stock footage of Nazi horrors and searches for the meaning behind why the Germans never questioned this maniacal, bigoted madman. Hitler is shown meeting with Mussolini and Franco. Franco's involvement in the Spanish Civil War was financed by Hitler, who was anxious to see how new weapons fared in the rigors of combat. Although the question is asked why Hitler was followed with such blind devotion, the answers are still clouded in mystery. Over 50 years after his death, Germany still has yet to come to terms with it's national shame over the events that led to World War II.
