An embattled Sydney, Australia family fights to save their harbor-side home as a wealthy Japanese developer makes plans to build a massive hotel complex, and his spoiled son stakes his claim on the family's prized possession - a majestic Clydesdale horse named Sam. An aging scrap merchant, Pop McKenzie doesn't have much but his grandchildren, his steed, and their modest family home. As fate would have it, however, Pop's home happens to sit on some of the most valuable real estate in Sydney. But the fact that the McKenzie's have lived in the same home for generations does little to dissuade a shrewd Japanese builder from drawing up plans to raze their house to make way for a luxury hotel. Later, the developer's son begins to covet Sam, who mysteriously goes missing after the McKenzie's home is vandalized. Determined not to bow under pressure, Pop and his grandchildren vow to get Sam back at all costs, and defend their home as the bulldozers close in.
